When our physical rehearsals came to an abrupt halt during the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the Metropolitan Music Community created a virtual band to perform Michael Markowski’s “Brooklyn Air” under the direction of Jeff W. Brooklyn Wind Symphony and Grand Street Community Band, along with hundreds more, got the chance to perform in the heart of midtown Manhattan this summer. They performed Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Funèbre et Triomphale - declared as “one of the great ceremonial pieces of all time” by critic Virgil Thomson. Launch of the Brooklyn Wind Symphony

Celebrate the start of our new season and the launch of our new name on October 14 at our first fundraising event of the 2011-2012 season at the Brooklyn Fire Proof in Williamsburg. We will have our own private room, and a night of jazz combos, classical ensembles and delicious drink specials will culminate with a dance party, complete with a DJ spinning tunes.
